“I started excusable negligence to have something to just be noisy with and not have too much going conceptually at first. But it has been morphing into a more politically oriented project as time goes on. I had been doing faint glow since 2013. That project largely revolves around my fascination with cosmology, quantum physics, and other esoteric sciences. But by 2020, I had started to feel slightly burnt out on those concepts. Also, stylistically speaking, I had tried to keep that project in the neighborhood of ambient music with some touches of melody.

With each release, I usually start with either some rudimentary idea of how it will be recorded or if there's a concept in mind. When I first started with faint glow, everything was being made using an FL Studio demo and Audacity. Then the live rig came with a guitar, various effects pedals, and a small synth. But then I began experimenting more with different recording setups. Sometimes I would only use a Microbrute synth. Sometimes it was only an acoustic guitar or vocalizations pushed through effects. Every excusable negligence release has further that approach with doing something slightly or completely different each time. So feedback loops, sound samples, vocals, guitars, bass, purely digital. Whatever approach I feel will be interesting to interact with.

Every time I make a release under any project, there usually is a concept or theme woven into it. This release relates heavily to social media and the feedback loops people allow themselves to end up in. It should be known at this point that companies like Facebook use algorithms to keep engagement high. So you end with your own self-made echo chamber with likeminded people. So all the sounds you hear are feedback loops made through a mixer, plus some effects pedals. The title relates to the idea that social media provides a very convenient platform to air your grievances, no matter how poor your reasoning might be or if you're even arguing in good faith at all. The point is that, in the worst examples, you have a means to get attention for yourself, usually virtue signaling to whatever echo chamber you inhabit. And unfortunately for us all, the algorithms are really good at capitalizing on the kinds of faux outrage that keep people foaming at the mouths over manufactured culture wars as opposed to the real, existentially terrifying prospects of hyper-capitalism induced climate disaster and corporate backed facism.” – Jeff Winter

I cannot praise this album enough. This album is absolutely terrifying! The many starts and stops creates this very h settling tension. Each start expands on the stopper idea previously. It’s like the music equivalent of walking through thick fog while passing out multiple times throughout trying to find a place to orientate yourself. There may or may not be something sinister in that fog, but you don’t want to stick around to find out. Bought the vinyl so I summon the fog demons through spe showhornwithteeth
